Vanderpump Rules Star and Something About Her Co-Owner Katie Maloney Gives a Sandwich Shop Update

Reality Star and Restaurateur Discusses Hurdles, Permits, and the Future

People who are unfamiliar with the ins and outs of the restaurant and hospitality industry in Los Angeles have been buzzing about Something About Her, co-created by Vanderpump Rules stars Katie Maloney and Ariana Madix. Some have cast doubt on the future opening of the restaurant, which has faced delays since it was announced last year.

However, those who know about how difficult it is to open a restaurant in Los Angeles, especially after the Covid 19 pandemic threw a wrench into the permitting process in Los Angeles and other cities within Los Angeles, have been a little more patient with the process.

Katie Maloney recently gave an update about Something About Her’s grand opening in early February on The Nikki & Brie Show podcast hosted by Nikki Bella and Brie Garcia, as reported by Bravo TV’s Daily Dish.

“People genuinely think this is some conspiracy theory when we’ve said so many times that we’ve truly been at the mercy of these different agencies and people that assign or give these permits out,” Maloney explained. She highlighted the unique operational dynamics of West Hollywood compared to greater Los Angeles, expressing the time-consuming nature of inspections and subsequent repairs or changes.

Despite the hurdles, Katie disclosed that it hasn’t even been a year since they initiated work on the property, having acquired it and taken over the lease well before they were fully prepared. “It feels like we’ve been working on this for a lot longer than we technically have,” she added.

Acknowledging the progress made, she revealed, “Finally, we do have all the permits that we needed in order to get the final one.” The co-owner emphasized the necessity of obtaining physical copies before the final walkthrough could occur.

Expressing optimism, Maloney stated, “I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and it’s just having to be patient.” She emphasized the importance of compliance with regulations to avoid fines and ensure a seamless opening process. Despite the challenges, she concluded, “It is not easy, but we’re so excited. It’s gonna be so great.”
