Veterans Resource Fair Offers Vital Services and Support at the West Los Angeles VA

NDvets Partners With Local Leaders and Agencies To Provide Healthcare, Job Guidance

New Directions for Veterans (NDVets), in collaboration with Los Angeles City Councilmember Traci Park and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power Veterans Alliance for Leadership and Recognition (LADWP VALOR), hosted the second annual Veterans Resource Fair on Thursday, December 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event, located at the NDVets facility on the West Los Angeles Veterans Administration Campus aimed to connect veterans and their families with vital services and support.

The fair offered a range of resources tailored to meet the unique needs of veterans. Attendees could access primary medical care, mental health services, career and job guidance, and essential items such as clothing.

Representatives from local and national organizations, including the Office of the Mayor, Los Angeles Public Library, Los Angeles Metro, and the Red Cross were there to provide information and help to the veterans. Dozens of service organizations including Village for Vets, HireLAX, and DWP’s Valor apprenticeship program also attended.

“The resource fair is important for veterans because it gives them the opportunity to learn more about services and resources available to them in the community,” said Scott Brumer, Director of Development at NDVets. “Our team is honored to provide veterans with resources that will be impactful to them.”

Established in 1992, NDVets is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering military veterans and their families to lead productive lives. In 2023 alone, NDVets supported 847 veterans, secured permanent supportive housing for 535 veterans, and provided transitional housing for 266 veterans.

The organization also ensured that 100% of its clients had access to mental health care, with 65% reporting significant improvements in mental health symptoms such as post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and depression.
