The Asian grocery chain 99 Ranch Market is coming to the Westside replacing a former Ross Dress for Less in West Los Angeles.
The supermarket is opening a new location in Westwood, near UCLA, by 2021.
The grocery store will replace a former Ross Dress for Less at 1360 Westwood Boulevard, will have two floors spanning more than 45,000 square feet.
The supermarket is owned by Taiwanese company Tawa Supermarket Inc. based out of Buena Park, California.
“99 Ranch Market, also known as Tawa Supermarket, was established in 1984 by Mr. Roger Chen. As a Taiwanese immigrant, he noticed a cultural gap in the typical American supermarket where he saw a need for an Asian supermarket in surrounding communities. He filled that gap and thus, the very first 99 Ranch Market was born,” reads the market’s website.
Most of the over 50 other brick and mortar locations have opened in Southern California while the company is also expanding to the East Coast.
