A Wilshire Boulevard traffic collision left one pedestrian dead this week.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), on September 27, around 5:04 a.m. a Toyota Corolla traveling eastbound on Wilshire Boulevard in the #2 lane collided with a female pedestrian at Westwood Boulevard.
“[The pedestrian was] walking from the north curb to the south curb, within a controlled crosswalk, against the red hand signal,” the LAPD said. “The pedestrian continued in [an] easterly direction and collided with the roadway.”
The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded to the scene and provided immediate medical attention to the pedestrian, who was transported to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The pedestrian has not been identified as of Wednesday.
According to the LAPD, the driver of the Toyota remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. In addition, the LAPD noted alcohol or drugs were not a factor in this collision.
This incident remains under investigation.
