Normally for a Brentwood resident, seeing a world-famous Korean-pop (K-pop) star in person would require hopping on a flight to South Korea. On Wednesday, August 8, however, all it will require is hopping over the 405 into Westwood.
KCON LA is the world’s largest K-pop fan convention and music festival and while the event has traditionally taken place in Downtown Los Angeles, this year the some of the excitement and fanfare is coming to the Westside with KCON West at the Hammer Museum.
“The event was created to celebrate Korean pop art and the diversity of the culture and fandom that KCON brings to Los Angeles,” wrote KCON in a press release.
In a partnership between KCON and the Hammer Museum, KCON West will be held this Wednesday, two days prior to the commencement of KCON 2018 LA. Several artists in the KCON LA lineup will perform at KCON West, including Ailee, Roy Kim and Echae Kang and will give fans a sneak peek at what’s in store for the weekend. The show begins at 8 p.m. and is free of charge and open to all ages.
Visit www.kconusa.com or www.hammer.ucla.edu/programs-events/2018/08/kcon-west-ailee-roy-kim-and-echae-kang/ for more information on the event and how to get tickets to KCON LA. For KCON West, parking is available under the museum. Rates are $6 for the first three hours with Museum validation and $3 for each additional 20 minutes, with a $20 daily maximum. Cash only.
