Senior Lead Officer Matthew Kirk Updates the Community
Senior Officer Matthew Kirk has issued the latest Crime report for Brentwood from October 5 through October 16. The Los Angeles Police Department’s West LA Division responded to several burglary, robbery, and theft incidents between October 8 and October 13 across neighborhoods in West Los Angeles.
Burglaries:
- October 9: Between 6:15 a.m. and 7:45 p.m., suspects broke a rear kitchen window to enter a home on the 800 block of Leonard Road, where they ransacked the residence and stole jewelry.
- October 10: At around 8:30 p.m., suspects entered a residence on the 200 block of S. Acari Drive through an upstairs window, taking a safe containing jewelry and a handgun.
- October 10-11: Between 10 p.m. and 8:30 a.m., suspects cut the lock on a storage shed on the 3100 block of Corda Drive, stealing furniture, appliances, and tools.
Robbery:
- October 9: At approximately 3 p.m., a suspect attempted to steal items from a business on the 12000 block of Wilshire Blvd. Confronted by security, the suspect brandished a handgun, discarded the stolen items, and fled the scene. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male around 30 years old, wearing a green shirt, dark pants, and a black jacket, carrying a black suitcase. Security believed the suspect may be unhoused.
Theft from Motor Vehicle:
- October 8-9: Between 8 p.m. and 9:45 a.m., suspects removed the wheels from a vehicle in a parking garage on the 900 block of S. Barrington Ave.
Grand Theft Auto:
- October 13: Between 2 p.m. and 11 p.m., a 2006 Ducati motorcycle was stolen from a parking garage on the 11600 block of Goshen Ave.
The LAPD urges residents to avoid leaving valuables, key fobs, or visible items inside vehicles. Additionally, owners of Kia and Hyundai models from 2010-2021 are advised to consider steering wheel locks and ignition immobilizers due to recent theft trends targeting these vehicles.
